More than anything else, they were the symbol of the Mirror Art Group
--two dirty, dented blue-green Nissan Big M workhorses that did everything and went everywhere for us. From the security guards at the Chiang Rai bus station to villagers high on the mountains, when people saw these Nissans, they knew who was coming. But now both of these noble steeds, Rocinantes which gave far more than they were ever designed to give, have been sold in favor of a new, anonymous Ford. The Ford is a nice enough truck, and maybe someday it will have the character that the Nissans had, but for now when the quiet, shiny Ford slinks into a hilltribe village, you can see the confusion and slight apprehension on the villagers' faces as they wonder, "Who is that?"
